AJAX WYSIWYG CMS

Or how to make a title by using only acronyms.

It’s called Authenteo and I have to say I haven’t really tried it yet, but it looks quite impressive.

Authenteo

Ouch, I tried it and it made this post the “Firefox 2 – Safari 0”. After some block moving, Firefox crashed with all my new stuff to read tabs on it. Thanks to Firefox 2 session restore, nothing happened. It has also recovered the unsaved text of this post!

About Athenteo, not working too well and it’s way complicated and strange to use, but could be a good foundation for something great in the future.

Google News Search

Posted by Jorge Bernal November 13, 2006

Yep, I know this is old news, but I had in my list of things to write about, and it was a good excuse to close this posting frequency gap. The thing is I’ve been in London this week and the Hotel’s wifi was quite bad.

Google launched last September its new search service for news. It’s not the same as Google News as it provides searching in newspaper archives long before the digital revolution.

Some sample searches:

Obviously, apart from academic and research purposes, the most fun is in the older articles, finding first news about the most common products of today

Subject: Quitting smoking is easy, I’ve done it a hundred times!

How in hell you can quit smoking a hundred times in a lifetime and call it quitting?!

Amarok’s bizarre sorting

Posted by Jorge Bernal August 04, 2005

These days I’ve been using KDE and discovered amaroK. This app is pure crack :) I love it!

But yesterday I discovered a bizarre “bug”:

Bad sorting of amaroK

amaroK sorts the album list by year (desc) and then alphabetically (asc) so that’s what we get (4-3-1-2). I’m not sure if it has an easy solution but I’ll file the bug and let’s see what happens.

Orwellian memory?

Posted by Jorge Bernal May 26, 2005

The last few days, some people at mailing lists and planets have been surprised about the new Nokia 770 based on Debian+GNOME.

Don’t you remember? It was in December 2004: Linux Technical Project Manager (GNOME/freedesktop.org) – Helsinki, Finland

Quoting:

At Nokia Multimedia we unite talented specialists with the latest technology to develop cutting edge solutions. If you would like to work in such an environment, why not join us as Technical Project Manager for GNOME/fd.o software development at our Mobile Enhancements unit in Helsinki, Finland. In this role your talents will be put to work developing mobile devices based on Linux and other open source projects such as GNOME and freedesktop.org.
[...]
Our platform team, located in Tampere and Helsinki, is constructing a software platform for mobile devices using Linux and other open source technologies within concrete product programs.

Back to normality

Posted by Jorge Bernal March 31, 2005

After some intenstive days I’m coming back to routine. Last weekend I was in Madrid and was just wonderful. What a lot of great people! :D

But that was not all, when I just came back to Zaragoza, some friends from Valencia were visiting, so I had two more intense days.

Anyway, these have been a great holidays. Now it’s time to fix the universe ;)

Today, the Ubuntu Hoary Release Candidate has been announced. In a week (April 6th), Hoary will be released, and the road to Breezy Badger will start.

Great times are coming.

A nice day

Posted by Jorge Bernal March 25, 2005

Today has been a day a really nice day. First, I’m a MOTU now, it was quite funny at IRC:

<dholbach> may I introduce you all to....
<ogra> yayaya
<dholbach> our NEW MOTU
<dholbach> welcome aboard: koke!"
* ogra jumps up and down extatically

But some minutes after that I got my new GNOME CVS account, so I already have my first commit to GNOME CVS

Tomorrow, I’m travelling to Madrid and I’ll be back on Sunday. I’m going to the sinDominio assembly, so I think I’ll be a bit offline. Anyway, good weekend to all!
