The vimeo guys strike again

Posted by Jorge Bernal September 25, 2007

Some months ago, the guys at Connected Ventures (those behind Vimeo) became famous for this video:

Lip Dub - Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger from amandalynferri on Vimeo.

It was an amazing viral campaign which served perfectly its two purposes:

  • Promote their video platform (vimeo)
  • Promote their open positions at Connected Ventures to people willing to work in that happy environment

Today this other video is gaining popularity:

Update: the video has been removed from youtube, but here it is again, with a second part

It’s really fun and any of you who have experienced the weirdness of youtube commenters will enjoy it even more. It’s not only fun but maybe the best way to laugh at their direct competition. Brilliant!

aibohphobia

Urban Dictionary

It’s amazing how can it be that from the 150+ rss feeds I follow, one of those which make me laugh more frequently is the Urban Dictionary’s word of the day. It’s not so much about the jargon itself, which I must admit it’s sometimes incredibly fun, but the examples given.

aibohphobia: The irrational fear of palindromes (words that read the same forwards and backwards).

Dude 1: Hey, what’s your name?
Dude 2: Bob.
Dude 1: AAAAAAAAAAH! *Runs and hides behind sofa*
Bob: Wow.
Dude 1: AAAAAAAAAAH! *Runs away and falls down stairs*

Male Restroom Etiquette

Posted by Jorge Bernal May 16, 2007

I just found this video on Youtube by chance. It wasn’t being too funny but, after a while, when trying to explain why you shouldn’t talk in a public restroom, it starts with an example:

They strike up a conversation about Linux. [...] So there they are, discussing the advantages of open source development…

That really got me. They story gets really complicated and in the end… well you best watch it yourself. And remember: never ever say a single word within a men’s room

Ego-post

Posted by Jorge Bernal April 18, 2007

Being well positioned in a search engine Google might be the key if we’re talking about businesses. When we are talking about a personal blog like this, with no direct revenue related to visits, I can’t find more benefits than the confort of being able to told people to directly google my name instead of giving them the whole address.

But today I noticed some black spots on my Google search (Jorge Bernal). First, it seems to be an actor called like me, and a Bernal familiy which is not mine.

But the thing that keeps me worried is the Jorge Bernal mugshot. Anyone who knows me can realize that the guy in that photo is not me, but still. I was really nervous last Sunday when I was at the customs office in Minneapolis Airport, knowing that there was a murderer in the US with my same name.

To whom may it concern: I do not kill people. My only killings are -9, if you know what I mean
